Average value of rural land falls

16 Jul 2012 11:52 AM - Source: Colliers International

According to the ABS, the value of Australian rural land was valued at $264.6 billion as at 30June 2011, or 8.8% of the total land value of Australia.

For the first time since 1993, the average value of rural land across Australia decreased, dropping 12% on 2010.

RSP notes that in addition to these figures being more than 12 months old, they cannot be taken as a broad brush assumption.  The deveil is in the detail, and like all assets that are located well, have strong production characteristics and are of a viable scale with upside productive potential - these assets have held their value well and increased in value.
